How to Model Table lamp in 3ds max

This Tutorial will teach you How to Model Table lamp in 3ds max

Step 1. To create proper size model, First of all, Set the unit setup. Go to customize menu and select units setup,
set to “us standard” option and default setting to feet and system unit setup to inches.

Step 2. Draw a shape with line as shown in image below. Use Bezier to modify a shape. Fillet the bottom vertices to smooth sharp corners

Step 3. Now go to modifier list and apply lathe modifier to it. In lathe modify option you can also Increase segments (segments: 50) and align to min.

Step 4. Now create a cylinder (radius-0.5”, height-2’). Go to modifier list and apply edit poly modifier to it. Select all horizontal vertices and insert 2 edges. Select all bottom and top polygons and click extrude.
As shown in image below

Step 5. Now create cylinder shape (Radius-8”, Height-1.2’). apply edit poly modifier to it.

Step 6. In edit poly modifier, click on polygon and select top and bottom polygons and delete it . Now make it look like lamp by adjusting vertex, Select all top vertices and scale it to inside then select all bottom vertices and scale it to outside.

Step 7. Select both top and bottom borders and click on create shape. Now go to rendering option and enable “enable in render” and “enable in view port” options. Select radial and give thickness ton to it as per your requirements.

Step 9. Now apply shell modifier from modifier list to select object and set inner and outer amount as per your reference/requirement.

Step 10. Now draw a supporting line to the lamp (by creating cylinder or curve ) Give thickness to it and copy it by holding shift and rotate it to 60 degree. (its not necessary to create supporting lines because from the camera view its not going to visible)

Step 11. Now put the material/textures to the lamp, This is how you can make Table lamp or you can design your own creative lamps
